Hello
First of all I would like to thank you for the effort that you show on
trying to support Virtual PC users. Thank you for that.
I have a PowerBook G4 with MAC OS 10.5 and a PICKIT2 programmer and I
am trying to put it to work with Virtual PC 7 with windows xp on.

The PICKIT2 is a microchip programmer that is connected to the
computer by usb and it has no need to install a driver, for example in
a intel PC it just need to be plug in and the program that comes with
the microchip programmer will recognise it.

I have installed all the software needed to run the microchip
programmer on VPC, but I can’t get the VPC to recognise the usb
microchip programmer. The thing that is driving me insane is the fact
that when I start the emulated PC with windows XP and than check for
the usb setting of the VPC, the usb is enabled and it seems to
recognise the microchip programmer, but if I close the setting window
and run the microchip software it just won’t recognise it and if I
again go to the usb settings the usb is enabled but the microchip
programmer is unchecked.

I think that is something about the fact that, when I enable the usb
for the emulated windows XP the mac OS finds that a usb device has
been ejected and recognise it immediately not giving a chance for the
VPC to get it for it self. Am I correct?

I am running out of solutions and I don’t know what to do next. What
should I do?
Is there some thing that I could do to assure that VPC stays with the
usb to itself?

Many thanks in advance

Sounds like you are doing everything correctly.

1: Have USB turned on in VPC
2: Have device plugged in and on
3: Device has check mark on it so it is active to VPC

For whatever reason then maybe the Mac OS is interfering with VPC.

VPC has one serious drawback: It only works with USB 1.1 not USB 2 devices
