Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Power PC
Hello
I've had Virtual PC 7.0 working just fine with OS 10.3.9 on my Power Mac G5 tower. I used it for connecting an external hard drive formatted for Windows FAT 32 which allowed me to not only access and grab files but also upload files into that external drive. It was beautiful being able to move files from my Mac into a Windows based drive.
Recently, I upgraded to OS 10.5.4. The problem I get now is every time I have Virtual PC running Windows XP Professional try to access my USB external drive, OS-X grabs the drive right back and doesn't allow Virtual PC to see it. I went into Mac's Disk Utilities, un-mounted and even ejected the drive but every time Virtual PC tries to access it, OS-X snatches it right back.
I tried disabling Network Sharing and switching the sharing settings in Virtual PC but no changes. Also to mention a Virtual Switch sharing error message always appears when I launch Virtual PC.
It states: "Virtual PC Switch networking could not be started. Permissions for the support files were set correctly, but Virtual Switch failed to load. Please report this problem to Microsoft (Code:A1004). Virtual PC for Mac will run without Virtual Switch networking."
I never understood that message but besides that Windows XP seems to load fine. Haven't tried Printers yet though.
Does anyone know or have an idea for a possible solution? Please help.
I really want my Windows XP emulator to read Windows formatted drive without OSX concealing it.
