Hi everybody,

in the old days virtual pc created an image of the pc volume which you
recreated and this image could be stored, copied etc.

Now I am working with MacOX und Virtual PC 7.0.1. Unfortunately I have to
reinstall the whole system, including formatting my hd (:
Before I do this I would like to save the volume I created with Virtual PC
(with all the pc programs running on it including Windows XP), but I cannot
find the image of this volume anywhere.

Can anybody tell me where to look resp. how to proceed?

Best Regards,

Per default Virtual PC 7 creates a folder named "Virtual PC List" in the
"Documents" folder of your user.
Inside this folder you'll find Virtual PC packages (with the file name
extension ".vpc7") that contain the PC image as well as the settings for that
PC.
If you just want to copy the image, select "Show Package Contents" from the
context menu for that package and the hard drive image should be ".vhdp" file
(normally "Disk1.vhdp") in that folder. But saving the whole package would
have the advantage that you save your settings as well.

Don't forget though, if you are making a backup then ideally you should have
closed down VPC and committed changes before making a copy.
