Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Power PC

Hello,
I installed VPC5 and when the start up window for windows comes up(the black screen)it says OS not found
Install an OS on this hard drive
I went through all the set up assistant stuff and picked XP as the system on Hard Drive 1 and still comes up with this.
Can anyone help me here please?
Thanks a lot,
Tomas

Have you actually installed Windows XP onto the virtual PC as a guest OS?

All the set up assistant uses that question for is to enable some
default options.

Hello Mark, the only thing I installed was VPC5. Do I have to get the actual Windows XP disc too?

Yes you need to get a XP disk and install from it if your Version of VPC did
not include XP.

Nice one. I'll have to get a hold of one off a friend. If I actually had to pay for these discs I'd nearly be able to afford a PC so no need for emulators. That's the whole reason I thought these things were for. Ah well, thanks for the help all. Look out for more posts from me tomorrow as I've no doubt I'll need more advice when I install the Windows XP.
Thanks,
Tomas

That's simply ridiculous. VPC allows you to run an x86 based OS on a
Mac. It doesn't allow you to steal software or allow you to get a paid
OS for free.

That's not quite true. <:)
You can now get a free PC that would run XP faster than VPC/XP on a
late PPC Mac.
I'm comparing VPC/XP on my G4/1.25 MDD,
to a loaded PIII/667 running XP that was given to me a year ago.

However for my light occasional use of XP I haven't put that PIII in my
office. Actually XP runs very well on my Intel Mini that hides behind
my monitor, but Crossover does most of what I need anyway.
